“You can’t live your life thinking about what could have been. That will poison the beauty you have.”
Honesty. Honesty is important. I know we’ve all been told that, and taught that, but how many of us actually live it? How many of us can say, truthfully, that we are being honest with the people we love, the people we care about - even ourselves?
I am someone who has lived multiple lives, who has hidden parts of herself away behind lock and key. I have lived a life of secrets, shared with a select few, secrets that I’ve hidden from those closest to me. Secrets that have been dark, misshapen and twisted shapes on the edges of my memory; secrets that have obscured who I truly am inside. Living with honesty now, I can say to you - I have nothing and nobody to hide.
There is a weight that I have become accustomed to carrying - the weight of hidden things - that no longer crushes me, that no longer slows every step. That is a weight I do not miss. I can hand my phone to someone and give them the passcode and not sweat about what they might uncover. I can show my true self at all times. I can be honest.
That’s a path that isn’t easy to walk. But with honesty comes peace. Please believe me.
All my love,
When I was younger, I hated avocado. Hated it. With a passion. It was only when I was in my late 20’s that I started to love it. Try and think about something you once hated the first time you tried it, and consider whether it might be time to try again!
Clap for yourself. Every small win matters. Every small win is a victory. Everything you have done this week that has taken you one step further from your past and one step closer to your future is something worthy of applause. Take a moment. Give yourself a standing ovation. You’re still here.
