#242 / Stop moving the goalpoasts

Saturday Edition

“Breathe in. Breathe out. The rest will follow.”

We do this a lot. Don’t we?

We move the goalposts for ourselves. We move the goalposts for our happiness, our success, our peace, our fitness. We tell ourselves that nothing is ever enough. When we reach a place that we’ve dreamed of, we don’t let ourselves enjoy or appreciate it. There’s so much stress, so much pressure, and so much pain without respite.

When we move the goalposts, when we redefine what everything means in order to push it out of our own reach, it’s not at all surprising when we feel unsettled. Try to celebrate instead. Try to mark the victory, rather than discounting it. There’s a foundation to be built there.

Sweep the floor! And sweep away the dust of the week gone by. So much happened. So much got done, and I know you’re tired. I’m so tired I’m napping standing up. But small tasks like clearing up the floor can have such a flow on effect.


Just get the hell up and dance. I’m not really a fitness fanatic - I just like to move when the music takes me. Put on your favourite tune and let loose. Don’t think about how you look. Don’t think about anything. Try to let go and let loose.


Set aside time for baking. It’ll make your house smell delightful, and you’ll feel like some kind of magical, mystical alchemist. I got up early this week and cooked up a batch of blueberry muffins that make for a delicious and wholesome snack. Cooking is some witchy s**t - baking even more so.
