#254 / That sounds like a not-you problem...
“The secret and the sacred are sisters. When the secret is not respected, the sacred vanishes. Consequently, reflection should not shine too severe or aggressive a light on the world of the soul.” ― John O'Donohue
Not everything has to be a fight. Even the things that do have to be, don’t have to be your fight. Not everything has to be a you-problem. I’m a big believer in recognizing when something doesn’t need to bother or burn me. Recognizing when I can let go, walk away and not be a part of the issue at hand.
The truth is - I have a finite number of things that I can care about, get sad about, get mad about and solve. It’s finite because my life is finite, and my time has a limit, and my emotional and physical bandwidth is not unlimited.
If something isn’t my problem, if something isn’t your problem, it’s okay to accept that you don’t need to fix everything. It’s about picking your battles, and picking the ones you walk away from.
All my love,
Make breakfast. Share breakfast. Eat breakfast. Enjoy it. You are allowed to set aside time and space for the first meal of the day. You don’t need to cram toast into your mouth as you race out the door, desperate to be early to a job that you won’t even remember in a few years’ time.
If you struggle with anxiety - like I do - try starting your day with lemon, ginger and honey, brewed in steaming hot water. It’s a way to soothe yourself into the morning, and it won’t spike you in the way that caffeine does…
Try to set 3 intentions each day this week. They aren’t goals. They aren’t things to achieve. They’re ideas and wishes to keep in mind. Today, mine are:
Be kind, loving and patient
Strive for joy, not perfection
Take a deep breath and let go
What are yours?

You are more than your circumstances dictate. You are the sum of your choices.
